Hot Caramel Apple Cider Recipe
I went to get coffee with one of new my mommy friends last week and as we were walking in, she said, "Wait, you don't drink coffee, do you?" I actually don't, but I was shocked that she could tell. Is it that obvious?! LOL. I do love "going for coffee" though and I absolutely love green and black teas, chai, white hot chocolate, and of course, hot apple cider.
The key to this recipe is to use real apple cider (100% juice, the kind you find in the produce section) that you heat on the stove, not in the microwave. And if you really want to get fancy, use my recipe for homemade whipped cream instead of canned.
PS-This is my new fave mug that I got when I visited Savor Spa NYC, owned by fellow mompreneur, Angela Jia Kim (love her!)
RECOMMENDED AGES: This is a special mommy treat that I save for myself, but if you want to share with the kiddos, I recommend it for ages 2+. Cut the serving by half; skip the caramel; only use 1 tablespoon of whipped cream; and let cool until warm (not hot).
SUGGESTED PAIRING: Try it while you're wearing the Apronini in Margot and it'll taste even better.
SERVINGS: I usually make single servings, but you can make up to 5 servings using my homemade whipped cream recipe.
TOTAL TIME: 10 mins (add more time for additional servings)
INGREDIENTS (per serving)
1-1 ¼ cups apple cider (amount will vary based on your mug size)
1 ½ tablespoons caramel syrup, plus more for drizzle
3 tablespoons fresh or canned whipped cream (click here for my homemade recipe)
Cinnamon (for garnish)
DIRECTIONS
1. Pour apple cider into a small sauce pot and cook uncovered on medium-high heat until boiling. Total cook time is 4-5 mins.
2. Pour caramel into mug followed by cider and stir.
3. Spoon (or squeeze) whipped cream on top, drizzle with caramel and sprinkle with cinnamon.
